His most hypnotic rendition. This is the best version. He says "yah" instead of "you" and it makes for a much smoother and, in my opinion a more emotive feel to the song. I know Leonard preferred to use his words rather than taking shortcuts; this song transcends that. If it's the only song he sang with slang then all the better to differentiate it even more from all (of his) songs. This is a masterpiece, like 'Bohemian Rhapsody', it just pulls you into its orbit and you get lost in it.
I’m doing this song as the ending for part twelve of Allen Gregory goes to autumn school Jermey and Allen Gregory talk about inuyasha and kangomes future 😊
I could swear that god send this man to Earth for this very purpose I heard Rufus, I heard Jeff, I heard many "Best hallelujah version" but no. Nothing can beat this never, never.
I fell in love with this song in freshman year of high school. I’m 27 now and still listen constantly. It’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard
You can rarely beat the original. Especially in this case. A lot of people say Jeff Buckley did it better but Cohen voice is suited for this better in my opinion. Will just always be the best. Goosebumps no matter how many times I hear it.
Hallelujah" (originally by Leonard Cohen) Well, I heard there was a secret chord That David played and it pleased the Lord But you don't really care for music, do you? Well it goes like this: The fourth, the fifth, the minor fall and the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah... Well your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew ya She tied you to her kitchen chair She broke your throne and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah... Well, baby, I've been here before I've seen this room and I've walked this floor (you know) I used to live alone before I knew ya And I've seen your flag on the marble arch And love is not a victory march It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah... Well, there was a time when you let me know What's really going on below But now you never show that to me, do ya? But remember when I moved in you And the holy dove was moving too And every breath we drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah... Maybe there's a God above But all I've ever learned from love Was how to shoot somebody who outdrew ya And it's not a cry that you hear at night It's not somebody who's seen the light It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah... Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah... Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah Hallelujah, hallelujah
OMG ! Why is this Still Here ? It's Horrible ! Why would This Guy Destroy His own Song by, SINGING IT HIMSELF ⁉️ His Voice is Nauseating 🤮. YUK 2/28/22
I was exposed to this cassette in our car where my dad played the Brand new tape. I loved the whole album for years. Many years later this song grew into the classic it is today.
13 years ago... Almost to the day, I was going through dark and heavy times..l Carrying an open wish to drink myself to death at the time... During a beer binge with a few friends of mine just before Christmas 2008, I woke up on my best friend's couch hearing this song as clear in my dreams as I hear the song now... Looking back on those days and now, I see it as a signpost. From somehwere...
Look, Leonard Cohen had a bad singing voice and his scene performance is medium at best...But still, he leaves me with tears in my eyes every time...It's first recently I found out it's the words itself, he was a real poet...
This is my favorite version of Lenords but there have been many fantastic covers my favourite full stop being jon bon jovi followed by jeff buckley. I will however be forever thankful that Lenord wrote this song. Even if im not religious its still a powerful song.
This is by far my favorite rendition of this song; I wish the ending were not truncated. I loved this long before John Cale was given credit for making it popular in the 90's.

His work with Jennifer Warren is great
What a life lived
This is the sexiest Hallelujah song I've ever heard and my favorite. It is soulful. And yes, Pentatonix does a good job with it, too.

This vid is such a juxtaposition to the actual live version and the feeling and meaning of the song...

@@savmmmaacc6395 maybe you should read my entire post before commenting ?
I agree. Certainly better than Shatner, but far from Adele. The lyrics, pacing, and timing are all magnificent.
@@FlyingDominion try to listen to KD Lang's version...Its truly uniqe....
Video inspired by Elvis vid for Jailhouse Rock. Go takey looky
